SocialGrapple launched last year by Y-Combinator-bred Andrey Petrov as a way for Twitter users to get interactive charts and better data representation of Twitter statistics. With it you can compare followers and see the changes in your Twitter followers. In an article from Monday, Google announced that it was acquiring the startup company suggesting that they may be looking to boost Google+ analytical abilities.
Google+ just launched and is already gaining a lot of momentum in the social network world. Even still, it has a lot of catching up to do if it wants to be recognized on the same plane as Twitter and Facebook. By increasing its feature set and available third-party application, Google+ may become a social media competitor. The easiest way to do that is by being able to track and monitor its users accounts. That’s where SocialGrapple comes into play.
It will be interesting to see if the analytic booster will up the use of Google+.
