Founded at the Techcrunch Disrupt Hackathon in 2010, group messaging app GroupMe was just acquired by VoIP giant Skype. GroupMe, headquartered in New York, joins Qik as an acquired company Skype homes will bolster it’s mobile communication experience. After being spun off by eBay, Skype is now in the process of being acquired itself by Microsoft depending on European regulator findings.
