Convenient and Efficient: Video Interviewing Works

Finding the right candidate continually is becoming easier with the new technologies in interviewing especially when you’re looking to utilize video interviews! When it comes to choosing a vendor to go with, finding one can be easy, but choosing the right one based on your needs requires a little research.

There are some great reasons to start utilizing video. Let’s look at how video interviewing will help your company in the both the long and short term.

Use it to save time and money. Time is money. Utilizing video you no longer have to worry about getting a panel together to interview the candidates. With some video interview services, you can record the interview to review later or share it with colleagues who will help with the decision making process. Another advantage to this is that you don’t have to find a time when you are both available for the interview rather, you can have the questions ready and the candidate can go through and answer each one on their own time. You can also keep the videos on file to review them again for future positions.

Looking at actual costs, many companies pay travel expenses for a candidate only to come find out they don’t want to hire them. Instead have a face-to-face with your candidate before filing any extra hiring expenses. One recent article showed that Zappos.com actually spent $1,000 per candidate to fly them out and get them a hotel for the night!

Use it as access to a larger range of candidates. Sometimes the perfect candidate doesn’t live around the block. With video interviews, you can look at candidates that are eager to move to the area. Not limiting your search geographically, will generate more candidates who have the skills and abilities that you are looking for in each position.

Your employee performance and retention will be higher. A study by Aberdeen Group on 506 organizations revealed when candidates were chosen through video interviews, there was a 95 percent employee retention rate and 82 percent of those employees delivered 12-month milestones on time. Another great outcome of employees who were screened though video interviewing is that 54 percent achieved goals on time as opposed to 43 percent hired the traditional way.

It looks like video interviews are going to become even more mainstream in the future with 42 percent of companies reporting that they used video interviewing in 2011 which was a significant increase from 10 percent in the 2010 and if you don’t start using this technology, you may miss out on great candidates that others companies who are using video are finding first. It simply offers so much more flexibility than recruiters ever had before!

Are you ready to take on the future of interviewing and finding great candidates? What are you waiting for!
