Are technology companies like Microsoft, Amazon, and Apple costing the country Jobs? This is Gene Marks’ postulation from his recent post on Forbes’ Quicker Better Tech blog. Can database software and mobile applications replace people? It’s true that the economy is in a recession and the United States has lost over 7 million jobs since 2008. On top of that, companies are hesitant to hire full time staff amidst the rising costs of healthcare.
A bright spot. Companies are using online services to connect with the right talent in this tough economic climate as contract workers. While Mr. Marks may think technology is phasing out humans in the workforce, others may see it as an opportunity for new companies to form since the costs have fallen so dramatically. Those companies will need employees.
